Okay, I turned 50 a couple of weeks ago. While that's a more symbolic threshold than a real one, I need to become more aware of my health from here to the end. This blog was recently one of the most successful attempts at such awareness, but as I've let it slip for more than two months I've gained back some of the weight it helped me lose.

So I begin again. . . .

Breakfast: one bowl of mixed Cocoa Crunchies and regular Cheerios (with 1% milk), half a banana
Weight: 251.6
Exercise: morning at the gym—elliptical machine for 30 minutes, weightlifting for 20 minutes
Weight: 250 (water loss?)
Lunch: ETSU cafeteria—chicken-fried steak and mashed potatoes (with a little gravy), corn, salad, vegetable soup with croutons, a slice of single-layer cake, Diet Coke
Supper: Barberitos—super vegetarian burrito on wheat tortilla (rice, pintos, a little cheese, salsa, jalapenos, cilantro, onion, black olives, cucumbers, sour cream, guacamole), chips and a Diet Coke
Night: a glass of red wine
